The Commission and the European Board for Digital Services (EBDS) are taking coordinating action to investigate adult platforms in an effort to protect minors from harmful content, in line with the objectives of the DSA. 

While the EBDS supervises smaller platforms, the Commission has opened formal proceedings against Pornhub, Stripchat, XNXX, and XVideos. Preliminary findings show an absence of appropriate and proportionate measures directed at determining effective age. Furthermore, the aforementioned platforms have failed to adopt risk assessment and mitigation measures regarding the negative effects of the rights of the child and the mental and physical well-being of users.

Consequently, the Commission will pursue an in-depth investigation to determine whether enforcement steps are necessary.
